Whether you join us for worship, attend a family event, or serve with us in the community, you can expect a warm welcome and gratitude for your presence with us. Worship of God at Wakefield UMC follows the traditional Christian year. Our congregation loves to sing hymns and finds direct connections to how we experience our lives today and how God reaches out to us with grace. Our worship time lasts about an hour, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. We have fellowship from 11:30 -12:00 before the start of church, which includes snacks, food, and a lot of socialization and great conversation.
Persons of all ages come to worship at Wakefield. We dress for the weather, and you will find folks wearing comfortable clothes that fit our wonderful U.P. environment. From ties and jackets to jeans and sweaters, all are welcome at Wakefield UMC to join with us in worship. For the physically challenged, our entrance is handicap accessible with drive up to the door, a bathroom at the back of the sanctuary, four new handicap chairs for easy sit/stand during fellowship which is also on the main floor of the church, avoiding anyone needing to use steps.
Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month and on special occasions. Our communion table is open to all—you do not need to be a member of a Methodist church (or any church) to participate. We use nonalcoholic juice for communion.
