Wakefield UMC History

Prior to the first church being built, members of the unofficial church met in various houses and halls. Then In 1907, a Methodist Society was officially formed with W. G. Prout appointed pastor. C.W. Walton built the Wakefield Union Church which was supplied by Methodist pastors, primarily from other towns.

Fire destroyed the Union Church in 1938 and a new church was built in 1939, and is still in use today.
